Cocktail Countdown to Star Dust!

CocktailCountdown

Star Dust, the 1960s Space Race romance Emma Barry and I wrote together, is releasing in one week! To celebrate the spirit of the Sixties, Emma is preparing classic Sixties dishes over at her blog. I am much lazier than she is (and my kids hardly touch what I cook now) so I decided I’d do a cocktail challenge instead. Cause nothing says “The Sixties” more than a well prepared cocktail.

However, I can’t guarantee that the cocktails will be well prepared here. Mr. Turner and I are more beer and wine folk—cocktails just seem like too much work. So we both have no idea what we’re doing here. Want to see two rubes drink their way through classic cocktails for a week? Welcome aboard!

Day One: The Old Fashioned—starting off with a classic that carries its age in its name.

Day Two: The Manhattan—chosen to help use up some of the bourbon from Day One, not that we probably will.

Day Three: The Mai Tai—we’ve got a scene involving tiki torches in Star Dust, so why not?

Day Four: The French 75—It’s got champagne and sounds very fancy.

Day Five: Champagne Cocktail—Chosen because it sounds like the most typical Sixties cocktail ever. (Also, I’ll need to use up the champagne.)

Day Six: White Russian—We were racing the Russians in the Space Race, so why not lift a drink to our competitors?

Day Seven: Americano—Release Day! I think the choice of this one should be self evident. 🙂

Mr. Turner will be joining me in the Cocktail Challenge, although he doesn’t know that yet. Come back tomorrow for the results of my Very First Old Fashioned!

(Psst: There’s still time to preorder Star Dust— Amazon | iBooks | Nook | Kobo | Google Play)
